Tatooine is one of the most well-known planets in the Star
Wars universe. Both Luke and Anakin Skywalker grew up there and also
Obi-Wan Kenobi went into hiding there (Under the name of Ben
Kenobi) to protect Luke from the empire shortly after the Clone Wars. Also
the droids R2-D2 and C3-PO landed on an escape pod from Tantive IV (a
rebel alliance star ship) which drew the attention of Darth Vader and the
Empire during the Galactic Civil War.
Tatooine is located in the Outer Rim Territories.
Therefore it is quite separate from the rest of the universe. It has three moons called Ghomrassen,
Guermessa and Chenini. It also orbits
two suns Tatoo I and Tatoo II and therefore suffers from a huge amount of
heat. The planet is completely covered
in harsh deserts and only a small section of it is habitable. Because of this heat there is very little
water on Tatooine so a lot of the people who live there are moisture
farmers. The Hutt clan also has a strong
presence on Tatooine and they have a palace there.
